Responsibilities:

Design and maintain normalised PostgreSQL schemas with proper indexing strategies and foreign key relationships
Implement Row Level Security (RLS) policies for multi-tenant data isolation
Build and optimise complex SQL queries, CTEs, window functions, and materialised views
Architect ETL/ELT pipelines for ingesting exhibitor, attendee, and transaction data
Configure Supabase Realtime subscriptions and database triggers for event-driven workflows
Design denormalisation strategies and caching layers for high-read analytics workloads
Implement pgvector extensions for semantic search and embedding storage
Build data validation schemas, constraints, and audit logging systems
Create database migration strategies and version-controlled schema changes
Optimise query performance through EXPLAIN ANALYZE, index tuning, and connection pooling

Qualifications:

Expert-level PostgreSQL knowledge: query optimisation, indexing (B-tree, GIN, GiST), partitioning, and replication
Deep understanding of relational database design, normalisation (3NF+), and schema evolution
Proficiency with SQL window functions, recursive CTEs, JSON/JSONB operators, and full-text search
Experience with Supabase or similar PostgreSQL-as-a-service platforms
Knowledge of Row Level Security, database roles, and multi-tenant architecture patterns
Familiarity with ETL/ELT tools (dbt, Airbyte, Fivetran) or custom pipeline development
Understanding of data warehousing concepts: star schemas, slowly changing dimensions, fact tables
Experience with database monitoring, query profiling, and performance tuning

Nice to Have:

Experience with pgvector, PostGIS, or other PostgreSQL extensions
Knowledge of TimescaleDB for time-series analytics
Familiarity with dbt (data build tool) for transformation workflows
Background in building analytics dashboards and BI integrations
Experience with change data capture (CDC) and event sourcing patterns
Understanding of GDPR data handling, anonymisation, and retention policies
Certifications in PostgreSQL or cloud database platforms
